Over the last decade, there have been two main factors whichhave urged organisations to attempt to implement all-encompassinginformation governance by IT means. First, compliance withtransparency and governance regulations has increased theburden for documentation of processes and communication onorganisations. Second, corporations and administrations try toderive benefits from the heaps of compiled data, for instancein terms of efficiency gains. An industry has emerged supportingthe core tasks information gathering, data mining and decisionmaking with sophisticated IT systems.
This talk argues for some theses which picture the risks associatedwith the pretence to obtain, handle, and use the maximum ofavailable information in and across organisations. They cover keywords such as availability, longevity, integrity, probative value, data protection, and some more.
